Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) pipe is manufactured by cold forming a flat steel strip into a rounded tube and passing it through a series of forming rollers to obtain a longitudinal seam. The two edges are then simultaneously heated with a high frequency current and squeezed together to form a bond. The longitudinal ERW seam does not require filler metal.

DIN 17175 12CrMo195 is a specification that covers seamless tubes of heat-resistant steels. The material 12CrMo195 is a low-alloy steel commonly used for high-temperature applications.

The specification covers grades of stainless steel tubing for general corrosion-resisting and low or high-temperature service.

JIS G3456 STPT 480 seamless carbon steel pipe is commonly used in high temperature applications such as steam pipes, boilers and pressure vessels.
