The visit centered on the technical evaluation and procurement of API 5CT Grade R95 oil casing pipes, destined for upcoming deep-well drilling projects in the Southeast Asian region.
The Philippine clients, specializing in offshore and geothermal energy exploration, were seeking an upgrade from traditional J55 and N80 grades. Grade R95 was identified as the ideal solution due to its higher yield strength (95,000 psi minimum) and mandatory Quenched and Tempered (Q&T) heat treatment.
During the facility tour, GNEE’s technical team demonstrated the full production cycle of the R95 seamless casing, highlighting:
Precision Heat Treatment: Showcasing our automated Q&T lines that ensure uniform mechanical properties across the entire pipe body.
Strict Hardness Testing: Demonstrating compliance with API standards to ensure the casing can withstand high-pressure environments without brittle failure.
Advanced Threading: The clients inspected BTC (Buttress Thread) and LTC (Long Round Thread) connections, praising the thread accuracy and protective coating.
The Philippines' geological conditions often require casing with a balance of high strength and cost-efficiency. "We chose GNEE because of their transparency in testing," said the delegation's lead engineer. "The API 5CT R95 grade provides the safety margin we need for our deeper exploration blocks while maintaining an excellent ROI."
GNEE Group’s experts provided detailed insights into the R95 color coding (One Brown Band) and discussed the material's performance in varied downhole temperatures, a critical factor for Philippine geothermal applications.
Beyond the technical tour, the two parties held a productive meeting regarding logistics for the Philippine archipelago. GNEE’s export department presented optimized shipping routes to major ports like Manila and Batangas, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
By the end of the visit, a procurement agreement for 800 tons of R95 casing was finalized. This partnership strengthens GNEE’s presence in the Philippine energy sector and underscores our capability to deliver specialized OCTG grades to international markets.
