API J55
API J55 casing is a general purpose grade and is the most commonly used grade in oil and gas wells. It is known for its affordability and versatility. Usually chosen when cost is the primary consideration. The yield strength and tensile strength properties of J55 casing are relatively low, ranging from 73,000 psi to 92,000 psi, respectively. It is typically used in shallow wells where only moderate pressure control is required or where the risk of hydrogen sulfide corrosion is minimal.
API K55
K55 casing is slightly stronger than J55 and belongs to the medium strength level. It is best suited for use in shallow wells where containment and corrosion requirements are less stringent. It is also more durable than the J55 and can withstand greater pressure. It has an average yield strength of 82,000 psi and an average tensile strength of 110,000 psi. It is commonly used in onshore oil wells where moderate tensile strength and yield strength are required.
API L80
L80 casing is a higher strength grade than J55 and K55. It combines good strength and toughness in one grade. It is particularly suitable for operations in sour conditions and is usually used at sea. It has an average yield strength of 83,500 psi and an average tensile strength of 95,000 psi. It has excellent corrosion resistance and is ideal for deeper wells with higher pressure loads.
API N80
N80 casing is a higher grade than L80, providing superior strength and performance at depths up to 20,000 feet. It is most commonly used offshore and has an average yield strength of 85,000 psi and an average tensile strength of 100,000 psi. It provides excellent protection against corrosion, making it ideal for deep, high-pressure wells.
API P110
P110 bushings are the highest grade OCTG bushings available. It combines excellent strength and ductility with an average yield strength of 105,000 psi and an average tensile strength of 125,000 psi. It is most commonly used offshore and is suitable for depths up to 30,000 feet. It is also highly resistant to corrosion and provides excellent pressure containment capabilities.
API Q125
Q125 casing is a special grade product with excellent strength and ductility. It is often chosen for demanding applications such as extreme depths and high pressures. It has an average yield strength of 115,000 psi and an average tensile strength of 140,000 psi. It is most commonly used in offshore oil wells, but can also be used in some onshore oil wells.
API S135
S135 casing is the material of choice for extremely deep applications such as ultra-deep water wells. It is known for its exceptional strength and ductility, allowing it to withstand extremely high pressures. It has an average yield strength of 125,000 psi and an average tensile strength of 155,000 psi. It is also highly resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for the most extreme conditions.
API V150
The V150 bushing is the strongest grade of OCTG bushing available. It has an average yield strength of 135,000 psi and an average tensile strength of 165,000 psi. It is designed to withstand the highest pressures and depths and is most commonly used in ultra-deep wells. Its exceptional strength and durability make it an excellent choice for challenging drilling operations.
