310H UNS S31009 SS Seamless Pipe

310H (UNS S31009) belongs to the American standard austenitic heat-resistant steel. The carbon content of 310H stainless steel (UNS S31009) is limited to the lower limit of the range excluding 310. This makes 310H the first choice for high temperature applications. This steel has good oxidation resistance in intermittent use at temperatures up to 1040°C (1904°F) and continuous use at temperatures up to 1150°C (2102°F). Widely used in environments where sulfur dioxide gas is present, however, due to carbide precipitation, continuous use of this steel in the range of 425-860°C (797-1580°F) is not recommended.
Acid-resistant 310H stainless steel pipe has good corrosion resistance, and the high chromium content designed to improve high-temperature performance also gives this grade good resistance to water-based corrosion. Under high temperature conditions, 310H steel pipe has good resistance to oxidation and carburizing atmosphere. It is prone to σ phase embrittlement in the temperature range of 650-900°C. Grade 310H is typically used for temperatures starting at about 800 or 900°C, higher than the temperatures at which 304H and 321 are effective.
